Why We Do What We Do (Purpose and Convictions)

Our ultimate purpose is to glorify Christ in everything we do.  We daily seek to be led by the Spirit and guided by the Scriptures.  Particular convictions include…

God is moving toward His “lost sheep.”

Jesus himself said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). In 2 Chronicles 16:9 we learn that “the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” God longs to have a personal relationship with each person whom He has created. He desires that none should perish, and He rejoices each time a lost sheep comes to Him (Matthew 18:14). Jesus was moved by “spiritual seekers”.  When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

People are searching for God.

Sadly, many are accepting a spirituality void of a personal relationship with God. Many people appear to be whole but inwardly are searching for answers.  We believe God desires to use His Church (scattered in the marketplace) to help “seekers” know and follow Him.  We are compelled and committed to doing all we can to bring God and people together. Only through a relationship with Jesus Christ is a person truly united with God. Our hearts ache for those who do not yet know the love, grace and forgiveness of God.

We are chosen and strategically positioned by God to go with the Gospel.

We have been entrusted with the greatest news on earth, the Gospel.  God has chosen to use His people, the Church, as an instrument and vehicle of love and grace to those in our world who do not yet know Him.  We have been commissioned by our Lord to go to those who need this great news.  He expects us to carry out His mission.  Like He did with Moses, God has strategically positioned us in various places where He has orchestrated divine appointments.  We are to GO and be the Body of Christ where He has placed us.  Our particular focus is marketplace ministry.

We are to make disciples who make disciples

We recognize that God is not searching for converts, He is looking for fully devoted followers. When Jesus called His disciples, He said, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). Jesus consistently called people to deeper levels of commitment. He commissioned us as His followers to “make disciples” (Matthew 28:18-20). A disciple is one who is willfully following Christ, one who is progressing in a life of maturity, and one who is teaching others to do the same (2 Timothy 2:2).  We are deeply committed to a multiplication ministry, where each person involved is actively making disciples who make other disciples.  We acknowledge this requires the focus of a soldier, the discipline of an athlete, and the work ethic of a farmer (2 Timothy 2: 3-6).

We are an expression of the local church.

The local church is the body of Christ, and we are a part of that Body.  We bring people together and help them be the Church.  “There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one hope when you were called—  one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”  (Ephesians 4:3-6).  In no way do we wish to serve independent of or disconnected from the local church.  Our leaders and board members are active in local churches and many serve as elders. Our desire is to partner with local churches who are committed to marketplace evangelism and discipleship.  In contrast to working alongside the church, we wish to work IN the church for a season, assisting the church in developing a marketplace ministry.
