Free in Christ!

So, if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”  (John 8:36)

The opposite of freedom is bondage or enslavement.  Sadly, far too many people are living as trapped prisoners, shackled and weighed down with guilt, shame and a sense of despair.  Granted, few of us look that way on the outside, but when painfully honest, we are internally crying out for freedom. Jesus came for this very purpose.  He stated His intentions and mission in Luke 4:16-21, when He read from Isaiah:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”   And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

ANYONE who comes to Christ, allowing Him to rescue them from prison, is free.  If the Son makes you free, you ARE free. (John 8:36) But the rescuer must be Jesus, not religion, not good works, not human effort (we cannot free ourselves).  Because Christ has set you free, you can live the abundant life He spoke of in John 10, an unhindered, adventurous life, free of shackles and shame, resulting in:
        No Condemnation… (Romans 8:1)
        No Fear… (1 John 4:18)
        Full Freedom… (Galatians 5:1)

As you read this truth, I pray you ask God to rescue you, to set you free to do life the way He intended.  Come to Christ or come back home today.
