Worthy of Your Call

I can so sink my teeth into this prayer, for myself and for others. Read it slowly and reflect on every word.

“We constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

You and I are called by God and His calling is both general and particular. We derive meaning and identity from understanding who we are in Christ and in knowing that God desires to use His power to fulfill His purpose in and through us. We live and work by God’s grace to bring glory to His name.

A good way to start the day is to:

  1. Thank God for His call on your life and for counting you worthy of His call.
  2. Accept and appreciate His continual grace in your life.
  3. Pray that by His power He will fulfill His purpose as you walk by faith.
  4. Ask Him to bring glory to Himself in and through you.

And then pray this prayer for someone else. Notice Paul said, “We CONSTANTLY pray for you.” How good would it make you feel to know that at least one other person was praying this way for you? Agree with someone to pray this prayer for one another.

If two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it will be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” Matthew 18:19-20
